Funeral

Prior to the actual funeral, certain preparatory steps must be undertaken, aligning with Islamic teachings. The first step involves the immediate washing (ghusl) of the deceased, which is performed with great reverence. For Shia Muslims, it is customary for the close relatives of the deceased, often females in the case of females, to carry out this ritual, ensuring the body is cleansed according to Islamic guidelines.

Following the washing, the deceased is wrapped in a simple white shroud (kafan), symbolizing purity and equality in death. This act of shrouding emphasizes that material possessions are inconsequential in the face of divine judgment. The simplicity of the shroud reflects the belief that all individuals, regardless of status or wealth during their lifetime, will stand equal before God.

Maleeha el-Hamdan

hi, my name is Maleeha el-Hamdan, a warm and unassuming introduction that gently opens the door to a life shaped by faith and reflection. Rooted in the shia tradition, I carry my identity with quiet confidence and thoughtful awareness. My outlook is guided by islam beliefs, influencing how I interpret the world around me—simply, yet profoundly. I embrace religious practices not as routine, but as meaningful rituals woven into daily life. There’s intention in everything. Inspired by scholars teachings, I continue to learn, question, and evolve, blending tradition with a modern, introspective voice.
