Timeline of the Event of Karbala

In the summer of 680 CE, Imam Hussein embarked upon his journey toward Kufa, spurred by the overwhelming support he received from the residents of that city. His arrival was anticipated as a herald of hope, as many in Kufa had pledged their loyalty. However, this hope would soon be overshadowed by the impending tragedy.

The Journey: August 680 CE

During the journey toward Kufa, Imam Hussein and his entourage encountered various challenges. Their movement was stymied by Yazid’s forces, who had received orders to intercept Hussein en route. The Martyrs of Karbala progressed toward the water source at Euphrates River, with the desperate hope for survival, but they were met with barricades and hostility.
