Timeline of the Event of Karbala

By the time they reached Karbala on the 2nd of Muharram, Hussein’s party was encircled and cut off from basic necessities. The dire circumstances only solidified the resolve of Imam Hussein and his companions, who embodied principles of bravery and sacrifice. Despite the overwhelming odds stacked against them, Hussein remained steadfast, epitomizing the virtues of courage and resistance against oppression.

The Battle: 10th of Muharram, 680 CE (Ashura)

On the fateful day of Ashura, the clash at Karbala ensued. The composition of forces pitted Hussein’s small band of approximately 72 against the vast and heavily armed troops of Yazid, numbering in the thousands. The battlefield became a crucible for testing conviction, faith, and loyalty. As the sun rose, it marked the beginning of an insufferable day that would be etched in history.
